La Moine Emergency Amateur Radio Club Meeting Minutes, October 11, 2005 Present: Ken, KC9ERB Jesse, KB9TMA Kevin, KB9EBJ Andy, N9XEO Wayne, K9DI Jerry, KB9DEH Tony, KB9NAB Duane, N9SSN At the beginning of the October meeting the previous month’s meeting minutes and treasurer’s report were read and accepted without change. October’s meeting was rather brief. Jan Kinman, Director of the McDonough County Chapter of the Red Cross visited to renew her acquaintance with club members and to reaffirm her organization’s reliance on and commitment to LEARC. She also mentioned that, previously, several current members of the club had taken training classes from her and all were welcome to participate in future training. She stressed in particular the damage assessment training that is to supplement storm spotter training and offered to conduct the damage assessment training for interested members. Club members will contact Jan to arrange training in this area in the spring. The Salvation Army has contacted the club by letter requesting members’ assistance in their annual bell-ringing campaign. Ken called the Salvation Army and reserved the club’s traditional six-hour block of time on the second Saturday of December, the 10th, at HyVee food store. We will conduct sign-up at the October meeting. Wayne and Andy requested funds for activation of a vanity call sign for the Western Illinois University Amateur Radio Club. On presenting their call sign application to Kevin, the funds will be released. There is some interest in licensing classes and testing. This matter will require further discussion. Jerry moved to adjourn the meeting, Wayne seconded the motion, and the meeting was adjourned at 7:35 p.m. The next meeting will be November 8 at 7p.m.
