La Moine Emergency Amateur Radio Club Meeting Minutes, September 13, 2005 Present: Andy, N9XEO Kevin, KB9EBJ Duane, N9SSN Jerry, KB9DEH Ken, KC9ERB Tony, KB9NAB Joe, AG9Y Gene, WO0V At the beginning of the September meeting the previous month’s minutes and the Treasurer’s report were read and accepted as read. Old Business: The club decided to purchase 200 of the mock QSL cards to mail to area amateurs at a cost of $71.49 plus postage. Continuing with last month’s discussion of declining membership and funds, Joe once again mentioned the possibility of remotely controlling the repeaters with UHF receivers rather than via phone lines which tend to eat up the club’s funds. Andy stated that he may be able to scare up some surplus receivers from stock that his father has. The club voted to grant Joe provisional authority to purchase receivers in the event that Andy is unable to procure the equipment. New Business: The club welcomed a visitor and potential new member, Andy, N9XEO. Andy is a WIU student who is interested in starting up a new radio club at the university. Gene expressed some interest in assisting with this project and the club will assist as able. The club decided to contact local newspapers to have monthly meeting times posted in the newspapers’ monthly activity calendars. Ken will email Tony with the necessary information who will in turn make arrangements with the individual newspapers. Joe reported that a local motel seems to have a cordless phone that makes unauthorized transmissions on 147.04. Joe will monitor the frequency and try to inform the offender before it becomes necessary to inform the FCC. Duane mentioned that assistance may be needed at the Peoria Civic Center and Salvation Army camp with Hurricane Katrina evacuees. If contacted, he will notify club members of this necessity.
